1964 Chevrolet Corvette L84 Convertible. This is a numbers matching, investment grade Corvette; but with many upgrades making it an excellent driver. Upgrades are all fully reversible with no damage to the original car. Making this the best of both worlds. Car is fully sorted, rides and drives fantastic - able to enjoyed right now.But includes all of the original parts, keeping it's originality. Which means this car is also an excellent candidate for full restoration to original specs. Dynoed 460 hp (480 ft lb) 383 stroker built by Smeding Performance. New engine has been dressed out to look like a period correct 365hp, solid lifter engine with aluminum Corvette script valve covers, chrome air cleaner, painted aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake with front oil filler, etc.
Dual core radiator (original looking). 1965 Front & Rear Disc Brake Conversion.1965 Side Exhaust (original replacement). Al Knock White Leather Interior. New Carpet, armrests, sun visors, door panels etc.
This car includes the original number matching fuel injected L84 engine, 4 speed Muncie transmission, bell housing, FI intake assembly, etc. The original engine and transmission are in working condition. The FI engine starts immediately (I often disconnected the distributor to turn the engine over a few times before cold starting to be sure the oil was circulating first). The transmission was replaced for drivability at highway speeds (aka overdrive).
I have videos of the engine running prior to removal to validate it's operating capacity. However, it does need a rebuild. It burned a little oil and had a valve train sound that made me nervous to continue to drive without a rebuild or replacement (I chose the latter). It did not appear that the original engine had ever been removed from the car until now.Gary Nabers (aka Nabers Corvette) expressed this opinion when he saw the car a few years ago. The original and current paint color is Daytona Blue. It is a gorgeous color that looks fantastic with the white leather (the original interior was blue vinyl). It is dark enough to appear black in certain pictures, particularly at night. In person, in daytime, it is clearly dark blue with a nice luster. It appears this car has been repainted one time in its history (not by me).
The current paint has a few nicks and scratches and would benefit from some retouching. I left as is because it still looks really nice in person, but I don't have to worry about people bumping and scratching it at car shows or taking it out to dinner. What I'm trying to say is that the paint really does look as nice as the pictures suggest, but it's not perfect and I don't want to misrepresent the details. The wheels are actual knock offs, not lug nut replacements.Price includes a replacement knock off hammer and a knock off removal tool (so you don't have to risk using the hammer). But I'm getting more into resto-rods and I just can't do those types of modifications to such an original example.
If you like the idea of an investment grade car that can be enjoyed now without fear of damaging the precious original drive-train, I don't think you'll have a better find than this one. This is an honest car with no hidden issues that is ready to be enjoyed; and it draws a crowd wherever it goes.
